Meet the Counselor
Sandy founded Rapha Well Healing to give hurting people in Toledo, Maumee and Northwest Ohio a place where faith and clinical excellence walk hand in hand. Her practice blends evidence-based counseling with Christ-centered coaching so healing addresses every part of the person.
The Hebrew word Rapha (רָפָא) means to heal, restore, or make whole. It conveys the idea of bringing something broken back to its intended state of health and completeness. In the Bible this word is closely associated with one of God's covenant names, Jehovah Rapha — "The Lord Who Heals."
This name first appears in Exodus 15:26, where God reveals Himself to the Israelites as their healer. Jehovah Rapha expresses God's divine power to heal not only physical illness, but also emotional wounds, spiritual brokenness and the deeper needs of the human soul.
In the Gospel of John, chapter 4, Jesus meets a Samaritan woman at Jacob's Well and asks her for a drink. Surprised that a Jewish man would speak to her, she questions Him. Jesus replies, "If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water" (John 4:10).
Jesus reveals that His gift is living water, symbolizing eternal life through the Holy Spirit. He gently confronts her past while offering grace instead of judgment. Amazed, the woman recognizes Him as the Messiah and runs to tell her community — and many Samaritans come to believe in Jesus because of her testimony.
Only in His presence do we find true refreshment. Through this encounter, Jesus makes Himself known as the wellspring of eternal life — offering living water that refreshes the spirit and satisfies the deepest yearnings of the soul.
