Scott A. Knapp

Clinician Counselor Supervisor | ED.S, LPCC-S, LICDC-CS

Scott Knapp is a compassionate and seasoned mental health professional who brings over 26 years of experience in the mental health field, including 17 years as a licensed therapist. He is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with Supervisory designation (LPCC-S) and a Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor (LICDC-CS) in the State of Ohio.

Scott holds a Bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of Toledo. In 1999, Scott transitioned from manufacturing into the mental health field, working with emotionally and psychiatrically challenged youth in residential treatment programs. This pivotal experience sparked his passion for clinical work and led him to pursue graduate training in Counseling at Philadelphia Biblical University (now Cairn University), a theological institution affiliated with Dallas Theological Seminary. He earned his Master's degree in Counseling in 2007 and later his Education Specialist (Ed.S.) degree in Counseling from Kent State University in 2023.

Scott has served diverse populations across clinical settings, with a special focus on adolescents and adults with co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders. His experience includes leading and building programs in office-based practices, correctional facilities, and community settings in Cuyahoga, Lake, and Lucas counties. In addition to his role at Rapha Well Healing, Scott continues to provide therapy at an addictions treatment center in Maumee, Ohio, and offers clinical supervision, mentoring, and consulting to professionals in the field.

Scott’s counseling approach is rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), integrated with Biblical truth. He received formal CBT training from Dr. Aaron Beck and Dr. Judith Beck at the renowned Beck Institute in Pennsylvania. He is also trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). In recent years, Scott has expanded his clinical focus to include couples and marriage therapy and is currently undergoing training with The Gottman Institute.

As a lifelong follower of Jesus Christ, Scott’s faith is foundational to his practice. Raised in a conservative evangelical tradition within the Missionary Church in Pettisville, Ohio, his spiritual formation deepened during his undergraduate years at the University of Toledo, where he served in student leadership with Campus Crusade for Christ (Cru).

Today, Scott and his wife of 36 years, Shari Lynn, reside in Perrysburg, Ohio. They have two adult sons, two dogs, and an Amazon parrot, and attend Cedar Creek Church in Perrysburg.

Scott is committed to helping individuals find freedom, purpose, and healing through faith-based and clinically sound therapy. He brings wisdom, compassion, and strong clinical insight to each client he serves at Rapha Well Healing.
